Es spielt rund 50 Jahre später als Canoe Bay<\/em>, wieder in Nordamerika, wo sich europäische Kolonialmächte um Land und Leute streiten, während Indianer als unberechenbare und feindliche Wesen empfunden werden. In diesem Durcheinander macht sich der junge Alban allerdings nicht wegen der Indianer, sondern wegen einer Horde Kopfgeldjäger Gedanken. Sie sind hinter ihm her.<\/p>\n

Dabei sollte sich nicht er, sondern Louis durch diese Sümpfe des Mississippi quälen. Der hatte nämlich bei der Musterung die Zahl gezogen, die Einberufung bedeutete. Alban hatte ein Freilos erwischt. Doch der Vater von Louis bot Albans Eltern 2000 Francs, und die Nummern wurden getauscht. Aus seinem lauschigen Dorf in der Normandie ging es per Schiff nach Amerika. Jetzt muss er sehen, wie er aus dieser Nummer wieder rauskommt.<\/p>\n

Wer Canoe Bay<\/em> gelesen hat, weiß, wie ausdrucksstark Prugne Landschaften zeichnen und malerische Atmosphären zaubern kann. Das ist in Frenchman<\/em> nicht anders, und erzählerisch steht Prugne Szenaristen wie Bourgeon oder Gibrat in nichts nach. Schöööne Zeichnungen, abwechslungsreiche Story, üppige Aufmachung – mal wieder ein rundum starkes Album für Freunde gut erzählter (Abenteuer)geschichten. Der 78seitige Comic wird mit zahlreichen Skizzen und Entwürfen ergänzt.<\/p>\n
